In our digital age, having a footprint in social media is important. It is also important to be present in and amongst the community. Dr. Gaines does this with service, involvement, networking, outreach, and more.
Private Screening of The Color Purple
Dr. Gaines had the honor of an afternoon of fellowship with the Orlando Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the community for a private screening of The Color Purple. The chapter invited Dr. Gaines to speak to some themes of sisterhood, Black women, beauty, and gender roles.
The Stage is Mine Podcast
Dr. Gaines was interviewed on Terrance Hill’s The Stage is Mine Podcast, where she shared some of her work and research. Specifically, she discussed inequity, issues in urban education, popular culture, Hip-Hop, and Rap music.
